Supplement 1 - Video SV1

Copulation in the hermaphrodite sea slug Elysia viridis. I. Couples initiated mating by protruding their transparent penises located on the right side of the head and entangling their bodies. Filmed using a Leica DMS300 digital microscope.


Supplement 1 - Video SV2

Copulation in the hermaphrodite sea slug Elysia viridis. II. Reciprocal insertion of the penis in the partner's female aperture (located at the base of the right parapodium) was followed by insemination. Copulation lasted for several minutes. Filmed using a Leica DMS300 digital microscope.


Supplement 1 - Video SV3

Copulation in the hermaphrodite sea slug Elysia viridis. III. After sperm transfer, one of the slugs removes the penis from the partner's female aperture and forces the end of the copula. Filmed using a Leica DMS300 digital microscope.
