- Mr. Boaz Adhengo of the EEIU chapter Nabuur has, again, been found guilty of committing (repeatedly) plagiarism. Accordingly, Mr. Adhengo has been dismissed as a member of the EEIU immediately. We deeply regret his misbehaviour!

President Eco-Ethics International Union - ECI and IRPE Prize Winner Elected: The ECI Jury under the chairmanship of Professor Robert D. Holt has elected Professor Monica G. Turner (University of Wisconsin, USA) ECI Prize Winner 2008 and Dr. Campbell O. Webb (Harvard University, Cambridge, USA) IRPE Prize Winner 2008. The prize documents will be handed over during the Prize Awarding Ceremony on October 8, 2008 in Oldendorf/Luhe, Germany.
I have much reason to be grateful to the Jury Chair, Professor Robert D. Holt (University of Florida, USA) and the members of his Jury for electing outstanding scientists. Otto Kinne Director International Ecology Institute - New Editors-in-Chief for DAO: We are pleased to announce the appointment of two Editors-in-Chief to head the Editorial board of Diseases of Aquatic Organisms. They are Alex Hyatt, of Geelong, Australia (previously Editor for Aquatic Birds, Reptiles and Amphibians) and Sven Klimpel, of Düsseldorf, Germany. Prof. Otto Kinne remains on the editorial board as Founding Editor while John Austin becomes Managing Editor. We are confident that the new Editors-in-Chief will continue the tradition of excellence that has characterized the development of DAO and will further strengthen its foremost position in the future.
- The IR journal Ethics in Science and Environmental Politics (ESEP) has published a Theme Section that is of particular interest to anyone working in a research environment:
'The use and misuse of bibliometric indices in evaluating scholarly performance' A second theme section on 'The ethics of science journalism' is currently underway. Contributions are invited. - ESR publication schedule for 2008 has been increased from 2 to 3 volumes due to the large number of high-quality submissions. Print versions of Volumes 1 to 4 of this rapidly growing journal are now available
- Marine Ecology Book Series now available as pdf.
It is a great pleasure for Inter-Research to present the series “Marine Ecology” published by Wiley & Sons from 1970 to 1984 in form of open access. - MEPS Editors-in-Chief: 29th Annual Report. A summary is provided here.
- Theme Sections / Specials
Inter-Research (IR) welcomes Theme Sections (TSs) and Special Issues. Leading scientists interested in initiating and coordinating such a TS / Special for any IR journal are invited to submit proposals (address to the President of IR) with: (1) List of Guest Editors; (2) List of authors and topics; (3) Timeline (deadline for submission etc.). Target length for a TS / Special is less than 100 printed pages. The mss must be subjected to the usual peer review (3 to 4 referees). - The co-operation between Inter-Research Science Center (IR) and Dr. Howard I. Browman ended on 05.11.07.

Dr. habil. Hans Heinrich Janssen has joined the IR team in Oldendorf (Germany). He has been appointed Associate Editor-in-Chief of MEPS and of Aquatic Biology (AB). - Inter-Research is proud to announce the launch of Aquatic Biology, a companion journal to MEPS and AME. Print issues up to Vol. 2, No. 3 are now available. Complimentary copies can be requested from ir@int-res.com.

We are pleased to make individual articles published >4 years ago freely available online as OPEN ACCESS documents. Indexed/searchable DVDs containing each journal's entire archive will soon be available for purchase. - Otto Kinne Foundation (OKF).
Professor Karel Simek, Hydrobiological Institute AS CR, Na sadkach 7, 370 05 Ceske Budejovice, Czech Republic, has been appointed President of the 'Otto Kinne Foundation'.
