Due to further growth in our activities, we are seeking qualified individuals to join our team in Oldendorf, Germany.
A unique opportunity has arisen for a new Managing Editor to join the editorial board of MEPS, as well as other Inter-Research journals. This is intended as a permanent, full-time, in-house position, though with some (limited) flexibility. Responsible to the firm’s management and to the Editor(s) in-Chief of each journal, your tasks would include the following:
-- Liaise with our Editors throughout the review process
-- Assist with the allocation of manuscripts for review to our Editors
-- Act as handling Editor for certain manuscripts
-- Handle the decision process in particular difficult cases
-- Assist with maintenance of the Editorial Board
-- In cooperation with Guest Editors, organise Theme Sections on special topics
-- Liaise with the in-house Production team
-- Assist with copyediting and other production processes
-- Play a central role in upholding our high selection and production standards
-- Be involved in further developing our portfolio of journals
-- A background in ecological science, preferably marine
-- Advanced degree (e.g. PhD) in a relevant subject, or other comparable qualifications/experience
-- Experience with publishing, as an author, reviewer or ideally in an STM publishing environment
-- Native English speaker, or very near equivalent.
-- Excellent English writing skills
-- Computer literacy
-- Good personal skills, e.g. self-motivated, team player, excellent communicator.
-- Knowledge of German would be a strong asset
