ALFRED WEGENER INSTITUTE VISITS INTER-RESEARCH SCIENCE CENTER

After the appointment of new leaders of the Alfred Wegener Institute (AWI; Director: Prof. Dr. Karin Lochte) and of the Biologische Anstalt Helgoland (BAH + Wattenmeerstation List; Director: Prof. Dr. Karen Wiltshire), the relations between the old, famous German institute for marine research and the new, much larger institute for polar research (AWI) changed dramatically. Attempts to swallow the BAH and its Wattenmeerstation developed into a cooperative friendship.

Karen Wiltshire invited Otto Kinne (who was BAH-Director for 22 years) and his present staff of "Inter-Research" for a celebration of his 85th birthday in Bremerhaven – Kinne’s home city.

In turn, Otto Kinne invited the AWI staff to a visit in Oldendorf/Luhe. The following photo series documents the meeting in Oldendorf/Luhe.
