First successful culture of the marine dinoflagellate Dinophysis acuminata

The marine dinoflagellate Dinophysis acuminata uses a peduncle to extract the cell contents of the marine ciliate Myrionecta rubra. First successful cultivation of Dinophysis in this study resolves a major research bottleneck and findings will allow laboratories around the world to expand research efforts on this cosmopolitan species.
